Your 20's can be one of the happiest times in your life. There are stresses, of course, as this is a major transition period for most people. However, this is also a time of great opportunity. Some people choose to take big trips and travel the world. Others spend the years in college, solidifying their future career success. These are some really good reasons to stay single during this important period.

1.) You Can Live Life Your Way.

When you are single in your twenties, you are not accountable to anybody else, and you are free to live the way you choose. If you want to stay out until 3:00 AM, you are free to do that, and nobody is going to lecture you about it. If you want to take off for a trip to Paris, you are free to do that as well. If you are in a relationship, you need to compromise on what you do, and you lose some of this freedom. Take advantage of it, and stay single.

2.) Travel Wherever You Want.

Your twenties are an ideal time for world travel, and getting to experience foreign cultures. Travel teaches you about the world, and about yourself too, as you have to be self-reliant in unfamiliar situations. Soon enough, you will be settled down and have a family. By then, taking off for a whirlwind tour will be difficult. Take advantage of your freedom by traveling single in your twenties.

3.) Meet New People.

When you are single, you are free to meet whomever you want. It is great to expand into different social circles, meeting various types of people. Join a hiking club, the debate team, a photography group, or take a French cooking course. Try to meet a wide variety of people, and each person you meet can then add another viewpoint to your life. As you do this, you develop interpersonal skills, which will be important for your life. Being in a relationship typically curtails your ability to meet people; so staying single has this advantage.

4.) Build Your Career.

If you are still in college, then devote yourself to your studies in order to graduate with the highest grades possible. This will position you well for future success. If you are already in the working world, then dedicate time to your career, and see what success you can achieve. Start to work your way up the corporate ladder or start your own business. When you don't have to spend time on a relationship, you can focus more on your career. The success you build in your twenties will pay off for many years to come.

5.) Improve Yourself.

Spend time taking care of you, and making yourself the best you can be. This includes working out regularly, and eating nutritious foods to keep your body fit and healthy. It includes taking care of your grooming and clothing so that you always look your best. It can also include spending the time to improve you in other ways, like learning to speak Spanish. The time you don't spend on a relationship can be spent helping yourself instead.
