Living with regrets can really hold you back from enjoying your present and future life. Most individuals aren't really living in the moment, but rather focused on past events or things that haven't even happened yet.

Sometimes we simply just need to let events unravel and try the best we can to help the situation. What we also need to understand as humans is that there are alot of things that are out of our control and in God's hands. The sooner we realize this, the faster we can enjoy our day to day life and not dwell on things that are out of our reach. Appreciate what you have, and consider yourself blessed that you woke up this morning.

Below, we've put together five key tips on letting go of what you cannot control, and living more in the present.

1.) Keep yourself busy.

Keep yourself busy with family, friends, and physical activity. Seek out a happy and healthy lifestyle and surround yourself around like-minded people. Whether this means you have to join a club, then do it. Go make new memories.

2.) Reciprocate the effort.

What we mean by this, is be there for the ones that are there for you. This is always a giant leap in the right direction and this will really make you realize who matters most in your life. Spend time with those individuals, as they want to be there with you.

3.) Find your thing.

Find what makes you happy in life. At the end of the day, you are the only person that walks in your shoes. Acquire hobbies, or participate in activities that truly make you happy and a well-rounded person. Whether it be reading, sports, or cooking; find that one thing you are passionate about and go after it!

4.) Appreciate what you have.

Most humans are too busy looking around at what others have and wishing they had more. The sooner you stop and take the time to appreciate what you have, the happier you will be. Think about the unfortunate ones in third-world countries and even in our own country. Remember it's a blessing to wake up every day, and to be able to see, hear, read, and write. If you woke up this morning, consider it a blessing, and not just another day.

5.) Live in the present.

Most importantly, you shouldn't be focused on the past or future. Live day to day, and appreciate each day as a new one. You'll realize whats important in life when developing this habit. Take each day as a blessing and thank god you are alive, and breathing. The more you are able to live in the present, the less you will think about the past or future and treat each day as a new.
