Overview of Fibromyalgia Symptoms:

There are many recognized fibromyalgia symptoms today and they often vary from one person to the next. Generally, the most common symptom comes under the umbrella term of "widespread pain." People who suffer from fibromyalgia generally find that there are instances in which their symptoms either get quickly better or worse for certain periods of time. Usually, this change in fibromyalgia symptoms is caused by alternations in the weather, issues with stress, and instances of physical activity. Here are some of the most common fibromyalgia symptoms that patients and doctors recognize today.

1. Widespread Pain

If you suffer from fibromyalgia your most prominent symptom is likely to be pain that can be felt throughout large areas of your body. Although you are likely to feel discomfort throughout most of your body, you may discover that certain areas suffer worse than others, such as your neck or back. The pain is general continuous, although it can become better and worse at different times, and it is usually described as a stabbing or burning sensation.

2. Overwhelming Sensitivity

Fibromyalgia can make you feel excessively sensitive to pain and other sensations throughout your body. You might find that even someone slightly brushing an affected area is quite painful. Furthermore, if you accidentally hurt yourself in some way, by tripping over or stubbing your toe, for example, you may find that the pain lasts for much longer than it commonly would. Moreover, pain is not the only thing that those suffering with fibromyalgia have increased sensitivity to. You may find that you are more sensitive to certain foods, bright lights, and smoke. If you are exposed to something that causes excess sensitivity, you may find that your symptoms begin to flare up more.

3.) Stiffness Throughout the Body

Fibromyalgia can easily cause you to feel stiffer, or more uncomfortable than usual. Typically, this issue is more common after periods where you have been still or maintaining the same position for an extended period of time. For example, some patients feel it most when they wake up in the morning. You may also experience spasms within your muscles.

4.) Tiredness or Fatigue

Fibromyalgia has been known to cause extreme tiredness and fatigue in some people. This issue can range anywhere from a mild feeling of tiredness, to the kind of exhaustion that most people associate with suffering from the flu. Fatigue can occur very suddenly, and is capable of draining you of large amounts of energy. When this happens, you may find that you are unable to continue your day as you normally would, or you might not be able to do anything at all.

5.) Problem on Concentration

Cognitive issues, such as difficulty in concentrating, thinking, or learning, can take place in people suffering from fibromyalgia. You may also suffer from problems remembering and learning new things, as well as issues with concentration, and even confused, or slow speech.

6.) Headaches

If fibromyalgia causes you to experience pain within your shoulders and neck, then you may also suffer from pretty regular headaches. Like most symptoms, these headaches can be mild or so extreme that they are classed as migraines and include other symptoms, such as nausea.
