The gluten-free allergy is the next epidemic. As this new allergy or epidemic is on the rise, people need to be aware of the common signs and symptoms that occur when consuming gluten. Most doctors seem to be familiar with celiac disease and digestive problems, but a lot of doctors aren't quite familiar with a lot of the other symptoms and signs, especially non-digestive symptoms that can be warranted by gluten. For those that aren't familiar, celiac disease is a digestive and autoimmune disorder that results in damage to the small intestine when foods that carry gluten are consumed.

It has been estimated that roughly 18 million people are affected by the gluten allergy; however, there is still a gigantic number of people walking around with the gluten allergy and have no idea they have it. After speaking with numerous doctors, they suspect that one in every two people carry a gluten allergy.

Since the gluten allergy has really just made it's way into the medical practice, this leaves a lot of unasnwered questions in everyone's dialogue. According to doctors at Medical Practice Insider, "it can take an average of seventeen years for new discoveries in medicine to actually make its way into formal education." The majority of doctors believe we are just actually scratching the surface when grasping and understanding how gluten is affecting our bodies, inside and out.
