One of the most difficult health conditions to detect is lymphoma because its early symptoms often mimic other milder and less threatening health problems. In fact, the symptoms are so subtle that it may take quite a bit of time before you recognize that something more serious is going on. As you learn more about the early warning signs of lymphoma you'll notice that they can seem very harmless but can be an indication that you at least need to see a doctor and be tested.

Lumps In The Neck, Armpits And Groins:

The most common symptoms of lymphoma are the lumps that develop in the neck, armpit, and groin. These are usually painless so you may not even be aware that you have developed them until you feel the area. These lumps are often discovered while bathing or showering. These lumps are the result of enlarged lymph nodes or swollen glands. This is not always a clear indication of lymphoma as they can also be symptoms of mononucleosis or Strep throat, both conditions that can be treated successfully with medication.

Weight Loss:

When you have a rapid and sudden weight loss for no apparent reason it could also be an indication of lymphoma. If you're still following your same diet and exercise program and there has been no major change in your regular routine and you find that you've lost ten to fifteen pounds within a couple of months, you might want to see your primary doctor to find out the root cause. While this may turn out to be nothing serious it could also be an indication that you are starting to see the early warning signs of lymphoma.

Unexplained Fever:

If you develop a fever and it lasts for an extended period of time or continues to come and go but is not associated with a chest infection or other known infection in the body, it could be another indication of lymphoma. Most fevers are the result of an infection somewhere so even if it is not lymphoma, you want to know what type of infection you have so that you can get the proper treatment.

Other Symptoms And Signs To Watch For:

Other symptoms you might experience include excessive sweating especially at night, an itchiness that spreads all over the body, loss of appetite, feeling weak, and breathlessness accompanied by a swelling of the face and neck.

While all of these symptoms could be early warning signs of lymphoma they could easily be an indication of something entirely different. However, if you find that you're having several of these symptoms at the same time, you might want to get to a doctor for an official diagnosis. Your best chances for fighting lymphoma is to catch it early so the treatment can be more effective. Once the disease has had a chance to spread, it will be that much more difficult to control so if you suspect that you might have lymphoma at any point, it is best to play it safe and seek medical help as soon as possible.
