So you've booked a yoga retreat, and are looking forward to getting away for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Packing for yoga getaway can sometimes be a frustrating experience, but even if you are a seasoned traveler, you may be wondering what to pack for the trip. Here are some packing tips for your next yoga retreat.

1.) Plan Based On Activities, Not Days

Rather than just figuring you'll be gone for 7 days, and packing a certain number of yoga pants and t-shirts for the duration, think of the activities that you will want to do while you are there. Obviously you will be doing yoga classes while you are on the retreat, but what else will you do? Will you want to go to the beach, or do some hiking? What about exploring a nearby town? Will you want to go out for drinks or a nice dinner? Make a list of what you expect to do, and then plan outfits from there.

2.) Limit Your Exercise Clothing

You may be tempted to bring a lot of yoga clothes, with different outfits for every session. Unless you are going to a Bikram yoga retreat, this is going to be overkill. You can usually wear each outfit more than once, and you can also bring some laundry detergent and wash things as needed.

3.) Plan Outfits That Can Do Double Duty

To fit everything you need into a reasonable amount of luggage space, it helps to take clothing items that can fit more than one purpose. For example, if you have a simple black jersey dress, you could wear it at a casual beach bar, for exploring the local market, or for a nice dinner out if you add a little jewelry. A pair of leggings can be nice and warm on a cool morning, on the airplane, or if you're out during the evening. Try to pack so that every item in your suitcase can be used more than once.

4.) Don't Bring Too Many Shoes

Shoes can take up an enormous amount of luggage space, and you don't need to wear a different pair every day. For a casual yoga retreat, you might want to take a pair of flip flops for the beach or pool, some sneakers for hiking and exploring, and one pair of comfortable sandals for times that you're going out. Leave the designer heels at home.

5.) Use Accessories For Different Looks

Jewelry and scarves take up almost no room in your suitcase, but can quickly and easily transform your entire look. You can take a casual dress, add a scarf or a bit of chunky cheap jewelry, and presto, you're ready for an evening out. Be sure to leave the expensive jewelry back home where it's safe.

6.) Select Wrinkle-Free Fabrics

Choose clothing made from fabrics that stay wrinkle-free, or where any wrinkles won't matter. It is a waste of precious vacation time to spend any of it standing in front of an ironing board. You can also take wrinkle-remover spray, but it is probably easier just to choose wrinkle-free clothing, so you have one less thing to worry about.
