Keeping yourself updated on stock prices throughout the day is a necessity if you are invested in the stock market. Stocks change prices hundreds of times per day and it can be difficult to keep track of what the price is every minute of the day. Everyone has certain obligations during the day. Whether it be a job or taking care of the family, a person cannot be glued to the Internet or television all day to keep track of the prices of different stocks. This is where websites that are easy to use and quick to look at come in handy. These websites will be valuable for a quick check of the stocks throughout your busy day.

1.) The Street

When you go to The Street’s main page you will see a graph of three of the top markets, DOW, S&P 500 and NASDAQ. It shows you how much they have lost or gained and the percentage of losses or gains. You can also click on the “markets” tab that is at the top of the page. You can look at stock market today and get an overview of how the market performed today. On this page there is a bar at the bottom of the page where you can look at the top rated stocks. There is also an option to look at a specific stock instead of the market as a whole. You can type in your stock’s abbreviation in the “quote” box. It will give you the closing price, the days open as well as the days and week range. It will also show you the current price of the stock.

2.) Yahoo! Finance

Yahoo has a lot to offer to people who are just looking up stocks at random and for people who have an entire portfolio planned out. On the left hand side of the page you will find tabs for your specific portfolio. You can look at your portfolio as a whole, or look at “my quotes news” which will give you up-to-date information on all the stocks in your portfolio. You can also look at market data for stocks, which will give you a list of most active companies, percentage of gaining stocks and percentage of losing stocks. You can also look up any stock by typing it into the “quote look up” tab.

3.) MSN Money

This website is perfect if you want a quick update on the stock market news during a break during your day. You will be greeted with a graph of the market summary. The top stocks will have information of the right side of the graph. It will show how much they have increased or decreased, as well as the percentage. It also has a ticker at the top of the page allowing you to see the most popular stock searches. There is also a search bar at the top of the page for you to look up a price of a specific stock.

4.) Market Watch

This website has a lot of information if you have the time to look around. It also has a way to look at the stocks you want quickly if you are in a hurry. It has a graph on the right hand side that shows you the markets for the U.S., Europe, Asia and more. You can look at a specific stock quickly by clicking on the magnifying glass in the top right hand corner. This will show you the change, volume, P/E ratio, 52 week high and low, the high and low from the day and much more. You will get all the details you need in one place quickly and easily.

5.) Google Finance

People will love this website if they are familiar with searching for things on Google. It functions just like the Google home page. The finance home page will give you a market summary and the top stories from the day. It also shows you trends of popular stocks, the prices, market cap and volume. You will also be able to see the days gainers and losers. You can type in the specific stock you are looking for in the search bar at the top of the page. It will show you the price, the range, a graph and even after hours earnings. You can also compare your stock to other stocks as well.
